Internship as a maternity carer.

Learning at a small-scale, recognised training company — close to real practice.

Are you training to become a maternity carer and looking for an internship where you're really part of the care? At Kraamzorg De Liefde you join real postpartum weeks — not as an observer, but as a student with room to grow.

Learning in practice.

Kraamzorg De Liefde is a small-scale practice in Amsterdam. That means: personal guidance, a familiar setting, and the chance to experience every side of postpartum care up close — from intake to the farewell on day eight.

As an intern you join postpartum weeks with different families. You learn to observe, to care, and to find the rhythm of the first week. No two families are alike, and that's exactly what makes it so valuable to learn from.

Three sides of the care.

  • Care for the newborn — weighing, umbilical care, bathing, observing breathing and feeding.
  • Care for the mother — checks, supporting recovery, helping breast or bottle feeding get going.
  • Attention for the family — light household tasks, including brothers and sisters, and looking after the atmosphere at home.

A kind person who rolls up her sleeves.

Someone who joins in, pays attention and takes initiative — not someone who waits to be asked.

  • You're studying Verzorgende-IG (level 3) or Maatschappelijke Zorg with a maternity-care specialism.
  • You want to learn everything about postpartum care — and you want to become excellent at your craft.
  • You're warm, observant, and able to empathise with a family that has just welcomed a baby.
  • You speak fluent English — this is a must; many families in Amsterdam are international.
  • You also have a good command of Dutch.
  • You live in or around Amsterdam and can travel to families by bike.
  • You're flexible — postpartum weeks don't fit a schedule.

Tailored guidance.

  • Personal guidance from an experienced practice trainer.
  • A recognised training company (SBB-registered) where learning comes first.
  • Full insight into every part of postpartum care — from intake to aftercare.
  • An internship allowance in line with the collective labour agreement.
  • A workplace where there's time for reflection and questions.
